How can I participate in the Home Run Derby?
Sponsored Special Friends Athletes
Any sponsored Special Friends athlete from any sport can participate and will earn points for each hit. Awards will be given in the following categories: top three athletes by points, the athlete with the longest overall hit, and the top fundraiser.
Special Friends Sponsors and Supporters
Any sponsor, relative, friend, or supporter can participate with a minimum $10 donation. You will also earn points and the supporter with the most points will receive a t-shirt!
How do I sponsor an athlete?
Sponsors can donate a flat amount or pledge an amount per point scored. For example, if a sponsor pledges $1 per point and the athlete scores 20 points, then the total donation from the sponsor would be $20. Please be sure to designate the athlete you are sponsoring so they receive credit for your donation! Note: In order for a sponsor to participate in the Home Run Derby they must agree to pledge a minimum of $10.
How will points be scored?
Each participant will have the opportunity to hit 10 fair balls, and each hit will score 1-4 points. Points will be awarded as follows: 1 point for each infield hit, 2 points for each hit past the infield dirt in the air, 3 points for each hit over 125 feet in the air, and 4 points for each hit over the fence in the air. Each participant will score a minimum of 10 points and a maximum of 40 points.
How else can I help?
If you do not wish to sponsor a specific athlete or participate in the Home Run Derby but would still like to help, we always accept donations!
We will need volunteers to help set up, keep score, field balls, and more! If you would like to help, please RSVP using the below information.
