Special Friends Website Update - April 24, 2017
2017 SOTX Calendar: Coaches, Parents, Guardians and Volunteers. Check out the 2017 SOTX Calendar for key competition, training, and deadline dates.
Bocce: Bocce will start the week of June 19th at Creek Trail Park: 3925 Airline Drive, Richland Hills. Text Coach Gayla at 817-975-4555 with interest. The exact date will be determined soon.
Firecasts Basketball Practice: Practice is going to start on Saturday April 8th @ 10:00am at Meadowcreek Elementary for the Special Friends Firecats. The Wednesday practice will be at 7:00PM. If things have changed and you will no longer be able to commit to the competition dates of May 25 - May 28. please contact Coach Steve at 817-966-6990 or Gayla at 817-975-4555 ASAP. Otherwise come suited up and ready to practice at taking that GOLD Medal.
Basketball Clinic at UTA: We have a great partnership with UTA and they want to be more involved with SOTX. So, they reached out to us last week about hosting a Basketball Clinic at UTA with their basketball players. This will be a great opportunity for our athletes. We would love to have our different delegations represented and they are hoping for about 100 of our athletes to attend.

Cycling: Practices are Saturday, March 11 – May 21, 2017
LOCATION: First Baptist Church Colleyville /5300 Colleyville Blvd, Colleyville, TX 76034 (Back, Upper corner closest to Church Street) from 9:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. Contact Aymie Thornton or Harry Lennard for additional information.
Area Cycling Competition is Saturday, May 6, 2017 at BNSF, 3001 Lou Menk Dr., Fort Worth, TX 76131, from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
State Summer Games are Saturday, May 28, 2017 at UT-Arlington Campus Parking Lot #49, Corner of West Mitchell & South West St., Arlington, TX 76013.
Athletics/Track: Practices will begin Saturday, February 25 at noon. Practices will be Saturdays 12:00-1:30 pm and Wednesdays 6:00-7:30pm at the Trinity High School track. Available events include track (both running and walking), softball throw, javelin throw, and shotput. If you haven’t already, please let Gayla know as soon as possible if your athlete is planning to participate. Gayla can be reached at email@example.com or (817) 975-4555.
Softball: Softball batting practice will begin on June 4th and will be every Saturday throughout June, from 10-11:30 a.m. at Harwood Jr High. Regular season will begin on July 27th on Wednesdays from 6-7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 10-11:30 a.m. Jessie Phillips is the coach. Football: Football starts on July 31st, on Saturdays from 8-10 a.m.
Bingo: The Knights of Columbus host Bingo at the Knights of Columbus Hall (1319 Brown Trail, Bedford) on the third Thursday of every month starting in September from 6:30 to 8:00.
Please check your athlete’s Application/Medical Release expiration date. Athletes with expired medicals will not be allowed to practice until we receive a completed medical.
